Jean-Luc Thunevin Mauvais Garcon Duo

Jean-Luc has at times been called the 'Bad Boy' of French wine. I've never felt that this iconoclast was particularly bothered by the nickname, and here he is just straight up having fun with it: Mauvais Garcon is 'bad boy' in French. Here's the important part: this wine is sourced from the vineyards of Thunevin's great Chateau Valandraud, which regularly sells for $120-$150. Even at full price, this is an insane bargain; at this price, it's nuts. It's a classic Right Bank style-Cabernet Franc and Merlot- but with a bold modern twist to the taste: a wealth of rich blackberries and mulberries, plus chocolate and spice. It's all delivered on smooth, ripe and supple tannins. Silky finish. This bad boy is more than welcome.
