The house of Mastroberardino was the leading-if not the sole-architect of the renaissance of Campanian wine. Sticklers for tradition, champions of native grapes, and absolutely devoted to the complex volcanic terroir bequeathed to them by Mount Vesuvius, Mastroberardino set out to reclaim the ancient fame of this region.
The ancient Greco Bianco grape, of which Greco is a clone, was brought to the province of Avellino dai Pelagi in Campania, from Thessaly in Greece, in the first century BC. Grown in volcanic tufa and chalky clay, the grapes are harvested in mid-October and given a long cool fermentation in stainless steel, to retain freshness and aroma.
Straw yellow. Intense nose of white flowers, with a palate of tropical fruits and honeydew melon. Finishes dry and crisp, with lively acidity.
