Occasionally, something is just plain awful.
If you’ve ever been to one of our events (remember EVENTS?! But more on that later…), then you know that we have THE best distributor and supplier reps in the business. The best. Knowledgeable-of course- but also humble, charming, and fun. But even among the best, some are better than others. Example: Rich & Sheri.
Rich Ricci is a bit of an enigma. A former brewer, and a devotee of head-banger music, he worked for many years managing both restaurants and liquor stores. Along the way, he picked up an affection for and knowledge of wine and eventually landed in distribution sales. Regulars know Rich for funky and fun wines-mostly from Europe, but with the occasional domestic vineyard thrown in-paired with immense good humor and an infectious chuckle.
As for Sheri Carl, who doesn’t know Sheri? After a career in management with a big box retailer, she became a distributor sales rep and now owns her own distribution company. Sheri has been part of Pour Richard’s since the very beginning; she actually helped us move in. Sheri brings us cool, value-centric wines from Portugal, Spain, and Austria, plus the one and only Carol Shelton. At tastings, these are paired with her trademark sarcastic dry humor. Sheri is also obsessed with being #1, which is how we ended up hosting a yearly wine rep competition, last won by Sheri in 2019. That’s her above in the crown, with Rich looking appropriately bummed about his loss.
2020’s competition was-sadly-cancelled for obvious reasons, so it’s definitely time for a rematch. On Saturday, June 12 we’re hosting an event we’re calling The Sheri vs Rich Smackdown. We’ll hold it outside if the weather cooperates, inside if it doesn’t. We’ll be tasting some luscious rose, but also reds and whites. We’ll be voting for favorites (and bragging rights). But most of all, we’ll be having fun, something that was in short supply in 2020 and the beginning of 2021.
If you are also feeling like you’re overdue for some fun, come on down. Bring the dog(s). Bring your curiosity and humor. But most of all, bring yourselves. We’ve missed you all terribly.
