'They look too exciting for so early in the evening'.
To Mask or Not to Mask?
This Wednesday, I went to a yoga class without my mask. The studio is in RI, which allowed maskless fitness classes for the vaccinated as of May 18th. All the students in the class were fully vaccinated and spaced 6+ feet apart. We were following all regulations, and yet…it felt like I was committing an illicit act. Because at this point, walking around with your face uncovered feels like you’re lighting up a joint in the front row of algebra class.
It was amazing to be able to breathe without a sopping wet mask on my face, but it was even better to see our friends’ smiles again. Seeing familiar faces-whole faces!- felt like sunshine after a whole year of rain.
As of May 29th, Massachusetts is due for a dose of that same sunshine, as Governor Baker lifts the mask mandate for fully vaccinated individuals. We’ll be following the guidance of both the Commonwealth and the CDC, and allowing those individuals to enter the store without face coverings. For now, our staff will continue to be masked. Customers can certainly continue to wear masks if they wish. For those who have not been fully vaccinated, we hope you will prioritize the safety of yourself, our staff, and your fellow customers, and wear some type of face covering-we’re trusting our wonderful community to do the right thing. And if any of this makes you fearful or even just uncomfortable, we will continue to offer curbside pickup during all open hours. Place an order online, or call us and describe what you want; we’re here for you.
It will be wonderful to see your smiling faces again.
