Thumbs Up! (aka Try Our New Site)
The last weeks of August are ‘Back to School’ time: flyers full of school supplies, stores full of back to school shoppers, and finally, those big yellow school buses gumming up the morning traffic. This year is of course different in every way. Nobody is really going ‘back’ to anything other than a table in their kitchen. And even if they were, for the first time in seventeen plus years, nobody in our household is in any sort of school. But we still got quite an education.
In the first days and weeks of the pandemic it was immediately clear that we needed to find more and better ways to help people shop remotely, so I tasked my soon-to-be-a-college-graduate daughter to expand and improve our website. Along the way, we learned more than we probably wanted about inventory apps, PCI compliance, and a host of other subjects. We learned how to conduct remote tastings, and figured out how to move our events online. And when I say ‘we’, I really mean ‘she’. Maddy took on the majority of the project, checking in occasionally for approvals.
She did an absolutely terrific job.
She updated the landing page, and improved the navigation. She added filtering by country or by grape variety, organized the stock better, and streamlined the checkout process. But best of all, she added a LOT more items and inventory to the site. Instead of just a few email specials, the site now contains many more of the items that make Pour Richard’s special: the heart and soul of our wine and spirits programs.
Please check out the new and improved pourrichardswine.com – I’m proud of both the site and the kid. Two thumbs up, way up!
