‘All changed, changed utterly…’
Our current situation is hardly a ‘terrible beauty’, but a snippet (above) of the W.B. Yeats poem, Easter 1916 kept running through my head this week. Because our lives have, indeed, changed utterly.
No school, no sports, no activities. Work from home or-far worse-the many who are now jobless. No social gatherings. No gym. No yoga. No restaurants. No Starbucks. On walks with the dogs, one of the few approved activities remaining, children can’t pet the dogs. (My dogs don’t understand this, and seem to take it as a personal affront.)
None of this is fun, and none of this is comfortable. Unfortunately, all of it is necessary. It’s our new reality, along with hand sanitizer, bleach solution, and conversations held from at least six feet away.
And online orders. From the beginning, Pour Richard’s has had a website and email specials. But the pandemic has exponentially increased the amount of online orders; we’re adding items to our website as quickly as we can. Although our entire inventory won’t be available online, we’re working to get more staple items added, in addition to our usual specials. Online ordering allows us to reach more customers more efficiently at a time when many people are reluctant to enter a public space.
If you haven’t checked out our website, please take a look. If you have, and you liked the experience, please do us a favor and share our site with a friend? Word of mouth continues to be our best and most effective advertising.
If your friend or neighbor places an order, have them put your name and email in the comments section; we’ll issue thank you gift cards to anyone who refers a new customer.
If you like it, pass it on. And thank you, as always, for trusting us with your business.
