We are incredibly excited to welcome renowned tequila expert David Suro-Pinera to Pour Richard's, for an exclusive seminar featuring the tequilas of Siembra Spirits!
Born and raised in Guadalajara, Jalisco, David Suro Piñera migrated to Philadelphia in 1985. Excited to showcase the food and spirit of his homeland, he opened Philadelphia’s first upscale Mexican eatery, Tequilas Restaurant, in 1986. It has since become worldilafamous for serving authentic cuisine as well as offering a list of artisanal, sustainable brands of fine 100% agave tequilas. As a restaurateur and a tequila aficionado, he was determined to find the highest quality tequila. This quest propelled him to develop and produce his own boutique tequila brand, Siembra Azul — a small batch, artisanally crafted tequila, which is made from only the finest blue agave. After years of meticulous efforts, Siembra launched with the first batches of Blanco and Reposado in the spring of 2005 to rave reviews. Since
the launch of the Siembra Azul brand, David has continued to expand his knowledge of agave spirits and Siembra Spirits’ portfolio. In October 2014, David launched his first expression of lowland tequila, Siembra Valles. Siembra Valles is a celebration of the Valles terroir of Tequila and specific flavors developed within its valleys. In addition to numerous expressions of tequila, David has also entered into the world of mezcal, an agave spirit focused in small-batch, ancestral production. Siembra Metl is the newest addition to the Siembra Spirits family, launched in May 2015 as a way to showcase mezcal producers and their individual expressions. With the creation of David’s first brand Siembra Azul, and the growing demand for the product, he recognized the necessity for personalized importation and distribution methods. In 2005, David began developing Suro International Importers, to meet the specific needs of the Siembra Spirits portfolio. Since 2006, Suro International Importers has been importing Siembra Spirit’s products as well as other artisanal agave spirits and craft Mexican beer.
We will discuss tequila production and history, then taste several different tequilas. Each seminar ticket will include a bottle of Siembra Azul Reosada Anniversario.
