The Artistry of It
If you’d like to add more creativity, insight, satisfaction, and happiness to your life, try this: add a little artistry to the mix. Engaging with art and artists teaches us that we are not alone; contemplating a painting, experiencing music, or enjoying wonderful food and beverages reminds us that art is about expressing ideas and sharing them with others.
That last bit-sharing with others-is extremely important to us, and a major reason why we sponsor so many tasting events. We want our community to experience the artisan beverages we love. But man cannot live by taste alone, so we’re delighted when we can collaborate with local artists to delight the rest of your senses.
This spring, the Franklin Cultural Council is collaborating with ArtWeek 2018. From April 27 to May 6, more than forty events celebrating the visual and performing arts are planned. We’re excited to host 3 of those-a large scale acrylic pour, henna painting, and the art of the wine label-here at Pour Richard’s. Stay tuned: we’ll have dates, times, and additional info available soon. But first, we have a wonderful treat for your ears.
Mark White, Mark Poniatowski, and Kenny Hadley are three gifted professional musicians who have toured, together and separately, all over the world. They’ll be in Franklin next weekend to play for Franklin Performing Arts Company’s production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Between the shows, we’re borrowing them for a show of our own.
They’ll be playing their own take on Duke Ellington’s Black, Brown, and Beige, his commentary on the African diaspora. We’ll be pouring artisan spirits in those same shades: Bourbon, Rye, Scotch, Cognac, Armagnac, Rum….every luscious shade of black, brown, and beige we can find. Pure, sweet jazz and gorgeous beverages-can you think of a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon?
The boys will be here from 4:30-6:30. Tickets are $10, which is a 100% donation to FPAC’s The Black Box Theatre, bringing a full schedule of theatre and music performance in downtown Franklin. While you’re at it, why not grab some tickets to Joseph, either before (2 PM) or after (7:30 PM)? But hurry-tickets are selling fast.
Art-it’s the gift that keeps on giving. We hope you’ll join us!
